A Thousand Miles Between Us: Long Distance Love

On any given day, nearly a thousand miles rest between this married couple of two years—and that’s when they’re at home. Michelle, 50, lives and works in the Midwest, and Gary, 52, lives on the East Coast.

He is a long-distance truck driver who can make sure he passes through his wife’s town for a good stay as frequently as possible. The two spend a lot of time in Vegas, a halfway-point for him on his hauls to the West Coast.

This couple’s favorite thing to do is no surprise: travelling together.

Although they make it work, the long-distance marriage is not ideal for either, who prefer to wake up and end each day with each other—in person. Eventually the couple will combine their households in the same town; prayers, a job search and number crunching are apart of their regular routine.

Waiting distance and time is nothing new for this star-crossed couple that met at ages 11 and 12. That’s a different story. Let me know if you want to hear it, and I’ll tell you about that one, too.
